A cookie is a piece of data that is temporarily stored on a user’s hard drive while they are visiting a web site. Various HSIG entities utilize cookies to identify an authenticated user during a particular session (the period of active site use while the unique visitor is connected to our server). This technology is used as a container to carry forward user input information for certain tasks on a website, i.e., reporting claims, viewing reports, and accessing additional ‘client only’ data. HSIG employs non-persistent cookies, meaning the cookie will expire once the user logs off the website or closes the browser window. No personally identifiable information is stored on the cookie.
